Make Your Website More Readable

By Stacy Karacostas

When it comes to content on your Website, it’s not how many words you put up there that matters. It’s what you say, how you say it, and how you organize it that makes all the difference.

Because people are in a hurry and tend to skim and scan first on the Web, you want your content to be skim-friendly. Do this by following these simple rules:

1) Keep sentences short—21 words or less is ideal

2) Keep paragraphs short—no more than 4-5 lines

3) Include headlines, subheads and bullets wherever possible
